Our man PMBeatz connected with the fam MUGSHOT (of Deep Foundation) and Hydroponikz on the singles “More Time” and “Exchanging Highs.” They were released this past Valentine’s Day, but V-Day is everyday, right? At least that’s what my girl says (I’m awesome, btw). Check out the bts and concepts behind the tracks below and make sure to add them to your iTunes library NOW!
From the trio that brought you “#Unecessary” comes two compositions of a softer, sweeter nature. However, these songs by comparison, are not to be taken lightly as they can evoke extreme feelings of love, lust, and euphoria, with a little bit of speechlessness. You know, the kind of loss for words that occurs when your significant other forcefully hushes you with one finger. That heart stopping moment when you spot your other half from across a crowded room, stunning, enigmatic and familiar all in one. It’s that middle dimension where colors transmute into beauty, personality becomes being, and where the sound of silence is more pleasurable than the finest symphony during it’s most intense movement.
“Exchanging Highs” by Hydroponikz & PM is a short story of two strangers who become entangled emotionally, through the use of natural enhancement and empowerment of one another. Although it appears to be your typical one night stand on the surface, something deeper is truly going on between them that extends beyond the physical realm, where the usual words to describe beauty no longer apply.
“More Time” by M.U.G. & PM is more than the quintessential ode to lovers, but rather, a testament to those who love life together. The song delves into the possibilities that creating an experience carries along with it, and the beauty that those experiences can contain. A beauty that even the song lyrics fall far from accurately describing, begging the listener to be present in the moment, rather than analyzing it’s merits.
The “Exchanging Highs” / “More Time” dual single will be available February 12th, 2013 on CDBaby, Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Spotify and more. Each song will appear on each of their respective solo projects, to be announced at a later date.
MUGSHOT, Hydroponikz, and PMBeatz are each working on their own solo projects now. We’re definitely looking forward to hearing what they have in store for 2013!
Extended fam from across the pond Larry Achiampong offers up More Mogya…now on WAX!!! If you didn’t catch his first project, Meh Mogya, download it here now then find this vinyl asap before they’re all gone! You can also dl the album by clicking the cover art above. If you have the scratch, just know that a portion of the proceeds from the vinyl will go to a very good cause. For more on that and some background on the Mogya series, here’s the word from Mr. Achiampong himself:
Finally, I can announce that More Mogya is now available to purchase on vinyl and those of you lucky enough to get your hands on a copy of this ULTRA LIMITED run are in for a BIG treat!
In case you forgot, More Mogya (meaning ‘More Blood’ in Akan/Twi) is the direct sequel to Meh Mogya, a unique, concept beat tape that traces my audible heritage via old school Ghanaian Highlife music samples, obtained from vinyl records that my mother and father once owned.
Sonically speaking, Meh Mogya harnesses that warm, electric, big-band sound, whereas More Mogya focuses on a sample palette containing Palm-wine guitar and other acoustic sounds.
More Mogya would not have been possible without the generous offer to use samples from the Bokoor African Popular Music Archives Foundation, established by professor John Collins. I aim to honour this by donating 50% of the profits made from the vinyl sales to BAPMAF, which lost around 10% of its archive material and equipment in 2011 following devastating flooding in Accra, Ghana.
So what do you get when you buy More Mogya? Well, you will be donating to a good cause upon purchasing this work of art (and I do mean what I say), a lovely quality pressing as well as a download card containing a domain and unique password that unlocks the full album in addition to an exclusive track not found on my bandcamp site. Sounds good, no?
The project has so far garnered overwhelming support from the likes of Tom Ravenscroft via his BBC Radio 6 show, Okay Africa, Have Plenty Music and THIS IS AFRICA.
So you want to know where you can purchase More Mogya on vinyl, right? Check out the record stores noted below:

Chinese-American songstress, Baiyu, is offering up a brand-spanking new song EVERY month this year— definitely something to look forward to in 2013! Check out her latest track, “Again,” produced by Polo Crew, mixed by KQuick, and mastered by Kevin Odom.
Last summer, she released the dance-hypnotic 13-track album, Hunter, replete with Electro-Pop rhythms and synth-heavy, club-rousing production. You know good Pop-R&B when you can get down to it in the club just as much as while cleaning your apartment, right? Right. Totally not just me…
DL her track “Again” here and make sure to DL her album, Hunter, right here. And don’t forget to add her on Twitter @BaiyuMusic to continue supporting good music!

The whole thing was built within the last year and was mainly produced in my flat in Freiburg, Germany. The concept: I pre-produced the tracks and invited several high talented musicians who then (except for a few distance-related exceptions) had 3 takes available to jam with me and to leave their mark on the album.Mixing and mastering took Victor Bullok (whose doom metal band Triptykon last year were headliners at the Wacken Metal Festival).
Click on the album cover to dl the album from Bandcamp— you can dl for free, but if you got the scratch, send it Ben’s way to keep the good music flowing! Also, make sure to follow him on Twitter @bensnburner and spread the word!
Found this beautifully minimalist video for a song called #ConcreteWall by Malaysian indie artist @ZeeAvi
And then we heard Homeboy Sandman from @Stonesthrow and were like, “yup.”
